Trial Flying Lesson
Whether you are considering learning to fly and would like a taster session of what it is like to be airborne in a light aircraft, or looking for that perfect gift, then the trial lesson is for you!
Our trial lessons take place in one of our fleet of Cessna 152 aircraft with a fully qualified instructor and are available in durations of half-an-hour, 45 minutes, or an hour (depending on your requirements and/or budget).
Please see our Trial Lesson pricing information in our download area for up-to-date details of prices. Our gift vouchers are valid for a period of six months. Due to the fact that the trial lesson is meant as an introduction to flight training and constitutes the first lesson of the Private Pilot Licence syllabus, Wycombe Air Centre has a policy of not accepting under-fourteen year olds on trial flights (due to the fact that flight time towards the issue of a licence cannot be logged below that age).
What happens on my trial lesson?
When you arrive at Wycombe Air Centre (get your directions here) you will be asked by our friendly reception staff to fill in a brief membership form so that you become a temporary member of Wycombe Air Centre for the day. You do not need to bring any identification but if you have a gift voucher, please bring it with you.
You will then be introduced to your instructor who will then take you to a briefing room for a short pre-flight briefing during which he or she will explain to you what will happen on your flight and answer any queries you may have. The instructor will then introduce you to your aircraft and make sure that you are comfortable and secure. If you have brought friends or relatives with you then this is their best photo opportunity!
Our trial lesson philosophy is that YOU should fly the aircraft for the majority of your time and so, after the instructor has taxied out to the runway, got the aircraft airborne and run through the basic ways in which the aircraft is controlled, you will be handed over control and the aircraft is yours! (Of course, if you just want to look out of the window and relax, we are sure that the instructor will be happy to chauffer you around the sky!)
Once the lesson is nearing the end, the instructor will guide you back towards the airfield and then will take back control and land!
You will be presented with a certificate to commemorate your first lesson. This certificate also acts as a temporary logbook so that, if you do come back for more lessons (and believe us – you will want to!) you can count the time spent on your trial lesson towards licence issue in the future.
How do I start?
